Clean up a scan
Photographed a document? Scanner made the paper gray or crooked? Whiten the background, darken or thicken the text, auto-straighten pages, go crisp black & white — with a live preview. Works on images and scanned PDFs.
All processing is pixel-by-pixel in your browser — documents never leave your device.
How to clean a scanned document
- Add scan photos, images or a scanned PDF. JPG, PNG or PDF from your phone or scanner.
- Adjust with the live preview. Whiten the background, darken faint text, or switch to pure black & white.
- Download as images — or as a single clean PDF.
Frequently asked questions
Which settings work best for a photographed document?
Start with background whitening at level 3–4 and text darkening at level 2. If the result still looks uneven, “Black & white” mode with a mid threshold usually produces the cleanest, fax-like document.
What does Invert do?
It flips dark and light — perfect for photos of blackboards or slides with white text on dark backgrounds, and it saves a fortune in printer ink.
Will this improve OCR results?
Usually a lot — OCR loves high contrast. Clean here first, then run the OCR tool.
